Other than emergency services, all City of Newberry government offices will be closed on Monday, January 16th, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Customers wishing to make a bill payment over the holiday may do so through the City’s telephone system at 352-472-2161 ext 1 or online (click here). As always you can contact us 24/7 for any needs at 352-472-2161 ext 1. Outages may be reported online (click here) or over the phone.
The holiday will affect curbside residential solid waste and recycling collection services scheduled for Monday (January 16th), in the Newberry curbside collection area. Services will be delayed by one day. Monday's collection will occur on Tuesday, Tuesday's collection will occur on Wednesday, Wednesday's collection will occur on Thursday, Thursday's collection will occur on Friday, and Friday's collection will occur on Saturday.
The regular collection schedule will resume on Monday, January 23rd, 2023.
On Monday, January 16th, please join us for a celebratory march from the Martin Luther King Jr. Center to the Mentholee Norfleet Municipal Building. A group photograph will be taken promptly at 11am at the MLK Center, followed by the march at 11:30. Programs will begin at the Municipal Building at 12:00pm with guest speaker Bishop Christopher Stokes. Food and refreshments will be served.
