Newbery recognized as the Chamber of Commerce’s 2018 Member of the Year

The Newberry Jonesville-Chamber of Commerce has recognized the City of Newberry as the 2018 Member of the Year for the City’s involvement with the chamber and support of the business community. The City is actively involved in the Chamber, provides support for numerous Chamber initiatives, and partners with them for many events.

Chessie Flanders, Vice President of the Chamber presented Mayor Jordan Marlowe the award at the Chamber’s annual banquet held on January 24th.

“Our partnership with the City of Newberry has proven to bring about economic opportunities for residents and businesses” said Flanders. “In business and community, there is no greater gift than the ability to work together to make things happen where it matters, right here on our own region. The City of Newberry has worked with the […] Chamber of Commerce to bring us together with businesses, and to help build our business network. They willingly came on the chamber board when they were asked and they have been active in chamber and community events; participating in, planning, and executing our objectives to build and strengthen our business network. We appreciate all their amazing efforts!”

Newberry Mayor Jordan Marlowe accepted the award on behalf of the City and thanked city staff for all of their hard work and dedication to the business community and chamber.

City Manager Mike New delivered the key note speech at the banquet. He discussed the economic development efforts of the City and the steps the Commission has taken to enable economic prosperity in the community. 

The Chamber is an organization dedicated to facilitating the interaction between the citizens, government, and businesses of Newberry and Jonesville to improve both the economic welfare and quality of life.
