Newberry launches Planning Projects Dashboard to give residents real-time insight into local development

In recognition of National Community Planning Month, Community Development Director Stacey Hectus highlighted Newberry’s recent progress in planning, zoning, and development at the October 13 City Commission meeting and introduced the City’s new Planning Projects Dashboard. The public tool is designed to make information about local development easy to find and simple to understand.

“With this dashboard, residents, businesses, and developers can track what is happening in their neighborhoods without guesswork,” Hectus said. “It is another step toward transparent, responsive government.”

The online dashboard enables users to:

  • Look up zoning and future land use
  • See if a property is in the Historic District
  • Review approved and proposed projects
  • Monitor upcoming City initiatives
  • Read relevant ordinances
  • Watch meetings tied to projects

Mayor Tim Marden praised the launch. “In a thriving community like ours, lots of questions arise about ongoing projects. This empowers our residents with real-time, deep-level data that answers a myriad of common questions.”

The dashboard is updated as projects move through the process, so details can change as new information becomes available. Users can save the page and check back anytime.
