Alachua County Burn Ban Extended to April 4th

Alachua County Burn Ban Extended Through April 4

Alachua County, FL – The countywide burn ban has been extended from March 27 through April 4 due to ongoing dry conditions and elevated wildfire risk.

The Keetch-Byram Drought Index (KBDI) remains between 500–550 across the county, with some areas exceeding 600. A Phase II Water Shortage has also been declared by regional water management districts.

The burn ban prohibits all unpermitted and non-exempt open burning, including:

  • Campfires and bonfires
  • Unpermitted controlled burns
  • Burning of yard waste or household trash
  • Burning of construction or organic debris
  • Igniting fireworks

These measures are in place to help protect the community and reduce wildfire risk. If you have any questions, please contact your local fire department.
