City of Newberry: Burn Ban Extended Through April 18

The burn ban has been extended for Alachua County through April 18, 2026 due to ongoing dry conditions and elevated wildfire risk.

According to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, the Keetch-Byram Drought Index (KBDI) remains between 550–600, with some areas exceeding 600. A Phase II Water Shortage is also in effect, highlighting the severity of current drought conditions.

Outdoor burning remains prohibited, including:
• Campfires & bonfires
• Yard debris or trash burning
• Unpermitted burns
• Construction debris
• Fireworks
